I don't think anything I said was out of place on a discussion about the social and cultural background of some of AR's characters which - I believe - was the initial point of the thread.
I wouldn't dream of trying to change anybody's mind about communism (at least not on this forum!!) and will not respond with a list of the detructive results of anti-communism around the world.
Perhaps we could start another thread some time about AR's politics (which I think is an interesting subject for discussion) - in the mean time I shall restrict my comments to boats and birds.
(PS: I have read all the SA books many hundreds of times and have no excuse for the mis-spelling of OwdON other than my own carelessness and laziness!)
