Yes, indeed. She might have been much the same size as the "Teddy", a Norwegian pilot cutter designed and built by Colin Archer which was sailed from Norway to New Zealand by Erling Tambs, a Norwegian journalist, with his wife and, (by the end of the voyage!) dog and two children. AR wrote the introduction to "The Cruise of the Teddy" in the Mariner's Library series.

There are several Colin Archer pilot cutters about; they are usually a little smaller than the famous sailing lifeboats, shall we guess at, say, 42 - 48 ft on deck, 14-16ft beam, draft about 7-8ft?
