In the 1960's the Cercle de la Voile de Paris revived a racing trophy dating from the Edwardian era called the One Ton Cup. This cup, originally for IYRU six metre boats, was then presented for level rating offshore racers rating 27ft under the IOR rule. In the 1970's and 80's many offshore racers were built to compete in level rating racing and were called one, Half, Two, Quarter and Mini tonners. A Quarter Tonner is about 25ft long, in this case. Which means that her Thames tonnage might be 5 or 6, her displacement will be about two, and so on....
