Ed

Having managed to get my son interested by showing him the videos of S&A, CC & BS, and taking him for a weekend in the Lakes during which we were fortunate to land on a deserted Peel Island, I then started reading the books to him at bedtime, a chapter at a time, in the hope that he would carry on when I stopped. Having got through S&A, SD & WH without success, we were part-way through PP before he decided that he could not wait until the next night to find out what happened next. He rapidly finished PP and is now well into P&M (we are going through the Lakes books before trying the others). The only other books he has sat down to read himself are, of course, the Harry Potter series.

I appreciate that the weekend in the Lakes might be a bit difficult for you, but perhaps if you had the grandchildren to stay and tried reading to them, they might catch on and take up themselves from where you left off ?
