And I in turn agree with Peter R (all this agreeing! - must be the New Year). I get a bit worried when I hear people talk of 'spreading the AR message' and similar - it all starts to get a bit 'religious', a bit like 'spreading the gospel', almost Messianic (Peter R mentioned 'preaching'). AR is not a religion, he was a wonderful author, and the reading of his books should be facilitated and encouraged, but that's all. If modern children on the whole don't find AR's books interesting, there's not a lot we can do, and anyway it's not the end of the world. There are thousands of other worthwhile authors. AR's magic is delicate, and needs seeking out. It will always be there for children to stumble on it. And I'm quite satisfied with that. Don't let's badger children to read AR.
