Akarabgnadabarak!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my message and for your response.
I have read up to and including SW and look to the day when I finish reading
the rest of the series (for the first time that is) with mixed feelings. On
the positive side, I'll have experienced all of the S, A and D adventures; however
that also would be the down side. Once I have completed the series, there will be
no more Ransome "Secret Water" for me to experience.
Do you find that you enjoy a book more the first time you read it or do you
find it more rewarding on subsequent reads? I find that whenever I read a novel
(Ransome especially) for the first time, I usually read very quickly, due to the fact
that I can't wait to find out what is happening on the next page. However, when I read
the book for a second, third, or fourth etc. time I find that I am able to take more
time and generally gain greater insight into the nature of the story, and more importantly
the nature of the characters themselves. I had to order BS through CITN from the publisher
and in the three months it took for my order to come in, I re-read SA through WDMTGTS several
times. I found this to be a very rewarding experience. Every time I read Ransome again, I find
several more reasons that remind me why I love Arthur Ransome. I know this will sound like a juvenile
question, but which Ransome is your favorite? I was recently considering this question and
had an incredibley difficult time trying to choose just one book. I think I'm leaning towards
SA, SD and WDMTGTS, but that is probably just because I have re-read them most recently.
Thank you for your time.

Swallows and Amazons for EVER!

Mary
