I Did a scan for the string: "fettl"; I came across these two references.

All twelve books were included in the scan. In a previous thread
the first reference was mentioned. The scan turned up one more usage
of the expression.

SA Chapter 9:

It was the morning after their chase up the lake after the Pirates,
whom they really had not met yet, but would soon. John slept a bit
late, but finally went up to Dixon's for the milk.

"What would you say to a bit of toffee?" said Mrs. Dixon,
"I'd nothing to do last night so I fettled you up a baking. Four of
you, aren't there?"

SD Chapter 31

Roger had sprained his ankle, so was temporarily staying with the
Billies in their wigwam with his foot all bound up in bracken to
help bring down the swelling. Titty had just left, riding away
on a huge horse-drawn log. For for this night, Roger was to be
with the Billies, looking forward to being Long John Silver with
a peg leg, using the new crutch Young Billy was fixing for him.
Roger seemed to be enjoying his role suggested by this crutch,
so perhaps it may be said that in spite of his sprained ankle,
he was in fine fettle.

"I'm just fettling up a crutch," said the old man. "You'll be
wanting to be getting about in the morning, and that foot of
yours'll be all the better for being off the ground for a day or two."
