Thank you for your response. I was hoping that GN would not be Peter Duck.
So, do you recommend that I read CITN before GN or after GN.
Yes, I have seen a Great Northern Diver (aka the Common Loon) though not
in Alberta. The summer that I was 5, my family and I went on holidays to
Lake of the Woods in Ontario. We rented a cabin and stayed on the lake for a week.
We saw the loons almost every night, but more than seeing them you can hear them.
It really is a unique sound. We did not do any sailing while we were there :(, but
we did go fishing and, I might add becauses I always tell this story, I was the
only one who caught a fish. I think my dad said it was a Northern Pike, but
it was nothing like the one the D and G's caught in BS. So, that's my fish story.
You are right the loon is on our one dollar coin; they are called loonies for short.
Great Northern Diver is a much nicer name for a Common Loon, but it definitely would
have been more difficult to shorten that into a short "loonie"-like phrase.
Thanks again!
