Dear Mike,

David Thewlis has kindly offered to host the drawings for the design of the Swallow. I arranged yesterday to send him JPG files of the AutoCAD drawings. I will do my best to do it this weekend, but I have to configure AUTOCAD to plot to JPG files. Teh drawings are done on 11 by 17 inch paper as that is the largest paper size I have access to for plotting.

A couple of comments on the design,

1. I am not sure I could get CF height from his hat size. But I will use PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS and try and get his hat size. You will have to accept that it is approximate.

2. I am using the drawing in SA where Roger is sitting on the wharf/jetty to get the length of the gaff and the boom. It appears to be consistent across several drawings.

3. I used the shot of Swallow going up towards the Amazon Boathouse to get the width of the transom, as well as the shot of Titty sitting in the boat being rowed by Roger and the farewell scene in SA with mother waving them goodbye. The transom was broad enough for two children to sit abreast, so I based on that and the rear shot I settled on 40 inches at the transom. She is 168 inches long.

4. Taking a fair few measurements I settled on 64 inches at the mid section. I think that she is a inch or two wider in the beam than Ransom intended which makes the transom look at bit narrow.

Gotta go.
