The Lune in question is the river of that name which flows into the Lune estuary near Lancaster. My understanding is that Swallow was derived from boats used for fishing (shrimping?) in that estuary. The Lune estuary dries out at low tide leaving large mud flats and sand banks notorious for quick sands. Hence shallow draft boats that can be rowed or sailed.
Cochy Bondhu has a traveller attached to a shallow bow shaped horse on the transom. A traveller itself is a shackle which slides a long the horse. Not the best arrangement as it capsizes and jams requiring a shove with the hand to clear it. Otherwise it suddenly clears itself with an annoying noise and spilling of wind.
Anyway the best of luck with your project John. I'd like to see TARS or the NBT or another offshoot organisation take on the task of building replicas of the whole fleet: Swallow, Amazon, Titmouse, etc..perhaps someday...
