I think that we may be able to preserve Ransome's decencies in not mentioning unmentionable facilities while still retaining the bathroom at Beckfoot. At that time, it would not have been uncommon for the aforementioned unmentionable to be located in its own small room, which is nowhere mentioned in the books as it is unmentionable.
I just thought I'd mention it.
