Great Northern Divers, also known as Common Loons are pretty well the national bird of Canada and dear to the heart of all Canadians, most of us carry around pictures of GNDs wherever we go.
They feature on our $1 coin known as the loonie and our current $20 (until they change it which will be soon).

At a couple of our Ontario Corroborees, held on Clear Lake near Peterborough, Ontario. We were graced by a loon or two swimming by, fairly oblivious to the motorized traffic on the Trent-Severn waterway and all the Ransome fans messing about in boats and swimming.
