In Swallowdale, at page 290, the S & A climb Kanchenjunga only to find a note in a brass box hidden in a cairn at the summit. The note reads, "August the 2nd. 1901. We climbed the Matterhorn. Molly Turner. J. Turner. Bob Blackett." That is, Nancy and Peggy's parents and Uncle Jim (Captain Flint). That was 30 years earlier, so if J. Turner was about John's age (12?), that would make Captain Flint about 42 or so.
