Beckfoot, like many country houses of the time, did not seem to have electricity, hence the batteries for the house bells. I was kind of wondering how they would be charged, since the size of the Lead/Acid cells at the time would make moving extremely difficult.

In reference to Dick's school, I think that it happened to be near the university where his father taught, since in WH, it was said that D&D were good skaters because they had ample chance to practice at the university skating rink. I am not sure if this was during the holidays, or whether it was during term time, but this would also signify that the Ds had schools near each other.
anyone to prove or disprove the theory?

just thought I'd ask, though I may be beating a dead horse here.
