Christina Hardyment is an author and journalist well-known in UK. In 1984 she wrote a book called Arthur Ransome and Captain Flint’s Trunk and it was published by Jonathan Cape, AR’s publishers. It was based on the trunk she had found in the AR archives in the Brotherton Library of Leeds University, and she followed up clues in the archives to find the ‘real’ places behind the books.
This was really the first step in the revival of interest in AR, and led eventually to the formation of TARS.
Since the retirement of the original Literary Executors, she is now one of the present ones, and is also a Vice-President of TARS. Any of you who are coming the the TARS AGM next week will see her there.
I am sorry to say the book is now out of print.
