That was the assertation that I took as the challenge to prove/disprove, so I did a quick scan of "quid" and found this in "Missee Lee":


Chang thinks it is safe to keep your Captain Flint because he is Amelican not English..." Her eyes narrowed still more. "It is a bargain. Quid plo quo. I keep my students. Chang keeps his Amelican."


It is not exactly the usage we had in mind, but AR DID use "QUID" in a more unexpected place and manner.
