I have to say I agree! I think if the old topics/views - whatever they end up being called - were readily accessible I think they could stimulate discussion rather well.

It could be quite a job to trawl through old threads... I suppose one option would be to start doing it now - perhaps with the Bob Blackett discussion - rather than going back to the start. Although it would be fun to look what was said about various subjects way back when.

If it were possible it would be good to have a link from the main homepage and from Tarboard.

Actually, because I tend to start from 'most recent messages' rather than the main Tarboard I don't experience the problem of interesting threads disappearing off the bottom to quite the extent you suggested, but it did occur to me the other day that if I respond to a recent message but it happens to be somewhere near the very depths of Tarboard, most people will probably never see it! The other day I romanced somewhat about an alternative history of Bob Blackett and it's probably toppled off the foot of the board after amusing only me!
