Yes, any thesis on AR/class would be overkill.. the Far Distant Oxus books(AR minimized inescapable class interaction just right.
Hull/Whitlock plunged right in because they were fearless) - (or for that matter the Frank Richards, Bunter etc, books, not to mention the text boys' comics of the 40's-, Hotspur, Rover, Champion etc) would be one of many better sources..in any case, most (older) English readers would have noted the few points that are mildly interesting - use of 'Miss Nancy' by servants; Nancy obviously pulling rank over Sammy; the status of Bill in PD.. plus obvious things like our heroes being able to take long sleepaway paid holidays in beauty spots, while the Death'n'Glories would obviously not (or as we found out, when CN got published, only got to travel by subterfuge..)
