Remember, The boat will be redesigned from keel to masthead, we do not have all of the limitataions that Joe, Bill, and Pete had (that, and there is hull design software)

I think that a couple of Leeboards would help sailing to wind'ard, and a better designed hull, that still looks somewhat like a ships boat, would also be of help. I say leeboards, because the D&G is not able to carry a centerboard, or daggerboard. I am toying with cabin designs in my head as well, and trying to keep them reasonably small.

as for mounting the mast, would it have to go through the cabin roof as if a thwart, and into a kelson on the cabin floor, or would it be feasable to do a cabin roof tabernacle like the real D&G had, or would it just rip a great rent in the cabin roof come a sudden squall. I also noticed from the diagrams that AR supplied that the D&G had not a boom, only a mainsheet. methinks that a boom would not go amiss to get some more power out of that little standing lug.

I'll try get my cabin design down on paper during one of my boring classes this week, hopefully the teacher will not hang, draw, and quarter me ;)

oh, one last thing before I go gung ho on my drawings, will the D&G replica's hull have a transom, or shall it be pointed stern, like the ships boat?
