But the great thing for me about S&A was they DIDN'T belong to a club or group, they DIDN'T have grown ups watching and questioning their every move - they had a boat (and borrowed or not it was considered 'theirs') and they sailed where they wanted to.
I am proud to say that all I know about sailing and seafaring I have learnt from AR's books, and many other things too.
Now living in the area of Secret Water I have had all my dislike of sailing clubs and marinas confirmed, just look at the contrast in the Big Six and Coot Club between Tom and the D&Gs and the Twins - what they missed out on because of racing 'proper' sailing boats to grown ups rules!
