While waiting for the rugby match to begin at Twinkenham, I heard on BBC radio (love the internet!) that there is a proposal to lower the speed limit on Windermere to 10mph. Seems like great news - especially as jetskis ("personal watercraft") are such a big problem on so many of our lakes here in the States. I expect they have invaded the Lakes as well, which is a shame. "Will hurt the local economy" seems to be the best counter argument the waterskiers and other speed demons can come up with.

Any thoughts?

Also, please keep us posted as we may not hear the result here in the States. It’s unlikely to be covered in my Guardian Weekly and my visits to the BBC’s Cumbria region website are sporadic. Thanks!
