I can confirm from the Tables in my mothers Christening gift of the Church of England Book of Common Prayer that Easter day in 1931 was April 5th and Easter day in 1932 was indeed March 27th. I think there are a few occasions when the basic formula doesn't work.

Coot Club was published in 1934 and the dates for Easter for 1933 and 1934 when he might have been thinking about and preparing to write the book are April 16th and April 1st. I would have thought that most boarding school holidays in those days would not have been longer than about four weeks maximum. They usually tried to finish school in late March and restart in late April at the longest. My birthday on March 21st was always a week or so before the end of term.
