As Alan says, the bottom photograph looks like a pair of crumpets ...
except that the bottom of a crumpet is usually dark brown, and though we
can't see the bottom of these two, I would expect a glimpse of the
brownness, if it were there, to be visible on the bottom part of the sides.
As someone said, crumpets are known as pikelets in the Midlands.

I would also add to Alan's description of scones (sorry if someone has
said this already) that they come in plain and fruit varieties. Fruit scones,
probably the more usual type, contain raisins. (I think I mean raisins,
but it could be currents or sultanas - I can never remember which is which.)
