I would be very interested to hear the words to that, Andrew - I grew up in Maldon (with a little bit of sailing - my father had a Wanderer which we sailed in the Blackwater estuary from time to time).
Of course, the trouble with being a Maldon yachtsman was that you were so dependent on the tides - a little bit of mis-timing and you would be stuck out on the mud for hours....
By the way I have just realised I'd been spelling Laurence's name wrong - apologies for that, Laurence; it must have been a subconscious result of the discussion on early 20th c literary representations of the working classes which led me to spell it like D.H. Lawrence!
