I had wondered about similar items earlier. In a July 25 posted that asked as these adventures took place during the depression years, how did the economically disadvantaged react to the books and characters? Were the S&A viewed as unduly privileged and resented as a result? This post may have unintentionally sparked a long discussion about "politicized locals" and, later, "Marxist nonsense," although I neither take credit nor assume blame.
