This is my first post, I feel a bit like Dick and Dot signalling to the Swallows for the first time and not knowing what the answer would be! But I'm delighted to find so many people who still love the books of Arthur Ransome. I loved them when I read them first as a child in the sixties, and kept them to re-read at intervals ever since. I'm currently reading through them for the first time in several years and enjoying them as much as ever.
So this is just to say "hello" and more specifically to say to John, I have a spare copy of Swallows and Amazons (the fairly recent Red Fox paperback) that I would be glad to pass on to your young friend in Australia.
