Exploding Tent Pegs:

Somewhere north of Newcasltle in the sand beds the US Army is reported to have buried a lot of ammunition after the Second World War. (I have strong suspisions that it is nothing more than a fanciful myth, but I think perhaps I will pass on the self inserting pegs. Putting a tent peg through a a long buried WW2 munition is not conducive to a long life.

The site I am thinking of does have crysalline material left over from the ordance which one is not supposed to touch. Is that some form of a nitrate?

John
