Well, AR to Wittgenstein is some mental leap! I have always seen this posed the other way around - if you had a rope around the equator and made it 1 yard (3 feet) longer how far of the surface of the earth would it be? 5.76 inches. I can pose the calculation if anyone is interested.

Wittgenstein's point was that in philosophy you can get mislead by things - the rope problem showing that we first off think too much about the size of the earth and so on.

As I say, a long way from AR but interesting stuff - to some of us!
