You are right, of course, but the essence of the questions is not being able to solve them, but being able to see that the first impression (removing a small number af guppies or making a large change in the length of the rope to remain in scale with the gigantism of the earth) is wrong. And there I don't think that a child will see it at first go. I know I didn't, when I was eleven or so. And realising that does teach a valuable lesson.
