In PM Ar has Dot saying that as she thinks about people for stories she likes to get into their minds.
I wonder if this is what he tried initially to do with Titty but he lacked the vehicle in her personality and habits to bring out the writing, even though she was an avid reader and drawer and story teller.
I wonder if Dot is a revised Titty.
