I assume you mean the creek is used by coasters - the idea of explosives from the factory being used by coasters brings all sorts of imagey to mind ...... :-) (smiles) although I'm sure Nancy would have loved it.
Going back to an earlier question re why Ruth is called Nancy - I have found in The Reader's Digest Great Encyclopeadic Dictionary, Volume 3, page 1316 (c) 1964
"Nancy - Person Named Dawson (naval slang; the tune 'Nancy Dawson' was used to pipe hands to draw rum-rations)."
