No, I didn't know that at all. Fascinating. Isn't Brooklands Avenue the name of the 'main road' along the back of the sea wall? Actually I just looked and it is... I remember it as being narrow, sandy, potholed and generally derelict, like much of the rest of the site, but many of the houses well maintained and lovingly decorated with bright shards of broken ceramics. 'Brooklands Gardens' is the name of the central feature- what I called the 'Central Square'- with the shops, that now look like abandoned Gold Rush stores. Is it still like that?

The whole place looks as though it's below sea level, with only the low wall keeping the ocean out. I don't know if that's really so, but it's one of the most evocative places on the coast.
