I think that helps to refute the observation that the British officer was 'lounging' while the Indian servant was 'obsequious'. Dear God - this is merely a jar of coffee essence! Must we have an anti-imperialist tract on the subject? Mind you, it all falls into line with the current BBC/Hollywood mindset about the 'English' and the 'Empire'. English = bad; anyone else = good.
