The imperial measurements are fine with this cabinet maker. This is not to reopen the recent debate but only to put my bit in. Metric is for the birds. My grade 5 class was a test class for Canada's move towards metric in 1975. Although my kids learn only metric my generation will have to die of old age before this country is totally metrified.

The beauty of my double main sheet system is that its easy to single hand. It has given more cockpit room for all and can be set for the new tack before going about. Thus I just worry about bringing the head sail across then finese the main. There are useful ideas in each system I'm sure.

About the Swallow and Scarab, am I correct that they just had a main sheet going directly from the boom to the hand with no blocks. Just think of the arms you'd develop.
