It does indeed. On a calmish day so we can't see what he did when things got hairy. It must have been a good safety feature as I still doubt if you could hold it like that if the wind got near capsizing strength.

So how did a 13 year old boy manage it to such an extent that Swallow gybed out of control? He was 'hanging on with one hand' Unless he had then cleated it - the ultimate sin in any dinghy.
