Well, Bosun Wu didn't manage to get them killed even though Capt. Flint had his sextant along. A GPS wouldn't locate them any better for later RN attention than several good astral fixes; might tell them which palace belonged to who (disregarding the nasty SA)- but they could locate the whole island either way (BTW - I can use both sextant & sight reduction tables and my GPS; GPS is easier, weather-resistant and it talks to my laptop - but it needs power.
At the same time - imagine the head start they could have gotten in GN with a GPS providing real-time nav. data assuming that the British Coast Guards, like their US counterparts, provided differential GPS signals.
I still don't know what to give Nancy or Peggy, though. Their own brass cannon? Any ideas what Titty would like? A little late for this year, but . . .
