Dan's trip to the Toronto AGM was not a whole lot shorter than from the UK to Toronto. Hold an AGM in somewhere like Newfoundland and the trip from the UK would be shorter than from BC....

Any February Winter Holiday held here in Thunder Bay would at least be guaranteed snow and frozen lakes (though we had the first non-White Christmas on record last year -- followed later by the rare event of Lake Superior freezing right over for a few days -- it is a few thousand times larger than Windermere). If you strove for authenticity and went around in shorts, you would find minus 40 (don't have to specify degrees F or C) a bit hard on the knees.
