Of course that is quite correct and the tree label will still be at about the same height, I must have left my horticultural expertise at work when I came up with the notion of the label now being higher off the ground!
So this now leaves a few possible outcomes why I did not find it....
1) The label is still there but grown over; maybe an X-Ray machine would find it,
2) The label has been removed or fell off in the passage of time; if so someone might have is as a keepsake,
3) The tree fell down,
4) I just wasn't looking hard enough, I was looking for a weathered METAL plate but Guy's recollections jogged my memory that it was a WHITE plate with black writing; in which case I might find it next time!
I think that option 4 is the most likely and am eagerly counting the days till I can find out!
