Don't have the books with me, but I seem to remember Titty at some point complaining of "one of her heads", implying that the condition was reasonably common and well known to the others.
If Disney ever got hold of AR the least we could expect would be the introduction of an American kid (as the groundhog was pushed into the Pooh movie); the worst the wholesale removal of the story to a lake in upstate New York.
No-one has mentioned that John Buchan's true claim to fame was not his stories, but his term (1935-40) as Governor-General of Canada!
