Robert makes some good points. I would add that in both Swallows and
Amazons and in Swallowdale, Peggy makes suggestions that Nancy thinks
are good ideas. And on Wildcat Island after Titty captures Amazon,
Peggy actually contradicts Nancy. I've always remembered these scenes and
never think of Peggy as a "cipher" as I've seen stated somewhere.

I remember that part from Winter Holiday where Dorthea thinks that Peggy is
about her age. I was paying careful attention to see if I could find reference
to she and Dick being twins, Dot being the older by several minutes, as someone
speculated recently in "Water on the Carbide". (If I back out of reply mode
to get a name, I'll lose what I've written so far). All I found was Dot saying
that she was older, so I think the twins part was a false memory on the part of
the person who raised the issue.

I am about to reread Pigeon Post, and I will pay special attention to Peggy.
I do remember how she "borrows" the bellows and gets away with them even after
Mrs Blackett spots them.
