An hypothesis about the "dates" of the books

As has recently been pointed out, in WDMTGTS the radar masts at Bawdsey (erected 1937) are mentioned, yet in SW and BS the action is clearly set in the same summer holidays as the action of PP and the same year as WH and CC.

The thought has just occurred to me that, until SW, AR was mentally writing in "the present", hence the date slip between SA and SD, but with SW (pub. nov. 1939, CC (1940) and PM (1943) he chose, deliberately, to set the action in the pre-War period, rather than during the War.

(I have always felt that GN has a post-War feel to it)
