I have some memory of the series from 1963 when I was 14.
I'd forgotten that the dialogue was not authentic. I remember
thinking that the quality of the child acting was very variable -
but at least that must mean that some of it was good,
which may be the most one can reasonably hope for.
I liked the theme music which seemed right for the
story, unlike the wishy-washy music in the 1970s film.
(I remember nothing of any music in the 1980s S&AFE.)
I have one other memory which is probably of the 1963 series though
it's possible that on this point I'm confusing it with the 1970s film.
I thought that the long shots were very well chosen to be compatible
with the geography of the fictional lake - I think I
remember one in which Cormorant Island and a convincing Wild Cat
Island appeared to be in the same lake, in the correct positions.
(Nowadays, of course, Peel Island could be electronically grafted
into the place of Blake Holme.)
