I'm sorry to disagree, but personally I can't help thinking that Dot is more likely to end up with Tom Dudgeon. He was her 'hero' from the moment she set eyes on him in Coot Club. If she didn't end up with him, there would be a little hero worship at least!
But you are perfectly right about Nancy/Timothy - what about her other 'queer look' in Picts when, in the midst of the worry of the GA's disappearance, she is remembering shy Timothy taking command a year before?
AR might not have written about "teen romances" but there is nothing stop the romantic type (like Dot and me) using our imaginations! And after all imagination is what AR did best!
