Good point about Tom Dudgeon being Dot's 'hero' - he has the attraction of being an 'outlaw', which Susan would not have appreciated so much. So perhaps it will have to be Susan and Jim Brading. At least that way, Dot is not left on her own as a lady novelist, with only the Death and Glories to help her put up shelves.
