Oh, now, you Brits have little to complain about. The changing of one mere name (albeit one as honored as "Finistere") is nothing compared to the horrific development that was foisted upon us in the US by our national weather service, which broadcasts forecasts, including marine. A few years ago, they dropped a live voice and replaced it with a computer-generated recital. Nicknamed around here “Sven”, this voice has a distinctly Scandinavian accent – why I’m not so sure. It’s improved a bit since its initial airing. Last year they introduced a female version. I have to admit I’m sort of getting used to it, but it is still very disappointing not to hear a human voice – especially that wonderful Maine accent that the announcer of my youth had.

On a slightly similar topic, I have posted a favorite link of mine – a map of weather buoy observations around the British Isles – great for vicarious adventures. The US version is actually extremely helpful when contemplating weather or not to venture forth.
