Sorry, not fully appreciating the reference to the Radio 4 show, I switched the rules in my question to 8 books to make it more AR related.
If limited to one AR book, I'd have a hard time deciding, but I find myself picking up Coot Club rather often and frequently read snatches of SA, but would probably end up with one that had all the Ss, As, and Ds in it (though Port, Starboard, and the D&Gs crack me up and I indentify most closely with Tom).
