I am gradually accumulating a set of Cape editions and if anyone reads them in the bath they will get keelhauled and strung up from the yardarm.

My Cape collection are the ones my mum read to me and I later read to myself. From the publication dates they started in 1947, and went on pretty much in order to GN. That one is in by far the best condition, but that's because I never really loved it and lived with it. Many of the others have coloured in illustrations, most of them very primitive scrawls. Except, paradoxically, for WH whose cover has faded to a kind of mumpy yellow, but the illustrations are of black and white scenes... But anyway, a long, long way from pristine.
