GRRR!

You have not had to endure the misery of trying to listen to the BBC on a short wave radio in a distant land and getting one word in three because some nerd wants to show their political correctness by having a programme or worse a news bulletin or current affairs programme presented by some bogus horny handed son or daughter of toil with a regional accent!

Thereby losing their audience...but who cares about the mere listener, when it comes to showing how "classless" and demotic we are!

There is a very good reason for "BBC English" - it cuts through static and other background noise and can be heard very much more clearly than other accents.

That is why announcements at railway stations and airports are made in BBC English, even in parts of the country where regional accents are strong.

You might like to reflect on Mainland China, where Putonghwa was imposed as a national dialect by Mao Zhedong in order that everyone could understand the radio.

Racist! You don't know what the word means.

Sorry, but you have really annoyed this reader.
