Well yes. But where are these announcers on national radio with incomprehensible accents? I don't believe that there are any. Slight Scottish burrs, gentle Welsh lilts, maybe. All of those are understandable to anybody in Britain. But full-on Scouse or Geordie, there are none.

Interviews are different. If a Scouser has something to say, then they'll have to say it in their own fashion. The point is that the producer has to make it clear what's going on, but it would be quite wrong not to talk to somebody relevant because they have the wrong accent.
