There is an article in today's (Wed 22 October) online Daily Telegraph about plans to build four new offshore windfarms. I'm curious as to how these are viewed by bird conservationists in the U.K.

About 75 miles east of the San Francisco Bay Area there is a very large wind turbine farm in what is called Altamont Pass. I have read articles expressing concerns about the damage the wind turbines are doing to local bird populations, especially raptors such as Golden Eagles, when they fly into the blades. Perhaps offshore farms are less likely to be a danger?

I realize this is very tangential to AR, but he was quite interested in bird convservation.
